This session will provide educators with a comprehensive overview of digital citizenship and discuss the importance of modeling safe and responsible use of social media. We will explore the latest research on the impact of social media on student well-being, as well as practical strategies for teaching students how to navigate the digital world with confidence and respect.

In today’s digital landscape, the internet serves as both a treasure trove of information and a minefield of misinformation. During this session, participants will delve into essential strategies for navigating this complex terrain. Information literacy involves critically evaluating online content to discern reliable sources. Media fluency hones the ability to decode media messages, recognize biases, and interpret visuals. The SIFT method, comprised of the steps "Stop," "Investigate," "Find," and "Trace," empowers students to dissect online information effectively. Additionally, fostering critical thinking is crucial for mitigating misinformation. Lastly, educators can creatively integrate information literacy into classrooms, ensuring students develop essential skills for evaluating and engaging with digital content. Let’s embrace the internet’s power while staying vigilant against misinformation!

In this session we will dive into improv-based team-building games that any teacher (or admin) could use with their classes to provide a safe space for students to express themselves, engage without fear of failure, and build stronger interpersonal connections. Improv is a proven technique to teach listening skills and build a positive classroom community. We will teach you a few different improv games that are easy to use in any classroom as a brain break, morning meeting/starter routine, community building/ice breaker activity, or PBIS reward.
